Melton South Community Centre Inc is offering FREE TAX HELP for people who earn under $50,000 with no shares, stocks, own rental properties, is a contractor, receive royalties or trust fund or foreign income or have an ABN.  MUST BE REGISTERED TO MyGov AND LINKED TO ATO BEFORE APPOINTMENT.

Trained volunteers will assist you in compiling your current financial year tax return.  Forty minute appointments on Tuesdays only starting 1st August from 10:00am - 3.10pm (last appointment for the day) This free service will run until 31 October. Book now on 9747 8576.

WHAT TO BRING FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT (WHERE APPLICABLE):

Your myGov user ID and password

Your tax file number

Original or amended NOTICE OF ASSESSMENT (any one from the last five years that was issued before 31 May this year).

Your BSB and bank account details

Your Medicare card or number

Your private health insurance statement showing your fund details

All your statements from banks and financial institutions showing interest you received during the income year.

All your PAYG payment summaries from your employers

All your payment summaries from super funds

Details of all your income from Centrelink or Department of Veterans Affairs (including details of any tax-free pensions or benefits)

All your dividend, super and managed fund statements.

All your foreign income details and pension statements or details of the amounts you received.

All your employment termination payment summaries.

All your receipts for gifts, donations and work related expenses.

Your details of any child support payments made.

HOW TO CREATE A myGov ACCOUNT

Go to www.my.gov.au and click the Create a myGov account button

Accept the terms of use

Fill in your contact details

Create a password and three secret questions

Once you've created a myGov account you can link member services such as the ATO

Login to myGov

Click the Service button on you myGov home page

Click the Link icon next to AUSTRALIAN TAXATION OFFICE
